This wonderful skirt suit was made in the 1940s from a grey and cream houndstooth checked wool. The suit is cut with a classic 1940s hour glass silhouette, created by combining a shape defining nipped waist with strong padded shoulders. The notched lapel open collar marks the starting point for a single row of five fabric covered buttons down the centre of the jacket.
The jacket also features large pocket flaps over faux waist pockets and wing style turn up cuff. Inside, the jacket is lined in crepe and has labels for ruth davy shop flint. The matching skirt has a rear vent and a green button and metal zipper waist fastening.Shoulders: 16 seam to seam. Length: 30 1/2 plus 2 hem.
The jacket is in good condition with a number of pin holes on the sleeve and a couple of expertly applied darns to the bodice and collar of the blazer as pictured. The skirt has a stain and a tiny pinhole at the front.
